Stephen's Hero is the folk-rock project of 17-year old Dallas native Cameron A. Howell.
Cameron began writing music at age 11 on guitar and piano and has since picked up a variety of instruments including banjo, ukulele, drums, and harmonica. He began performing and recording under the Stephen's Hero moniker at age 13, playing shows around Dallas, and distributing self recorded cassette tapes, CDs, and mp3s around the Dallas metroplex to friends, family, and acquaintances. Stephen's Hero came to a screeching halt, though, when Howell was sent to military school by his parents in his first year of high school. Upon his return from military school, Howell has revived the moniker and released his official debut, Stephen's Hero, in March of 2011. Stephen's Hero is the result of 3 years of writing and recording in bedrooms, basements, and cheap motels (among other dirty places) and contains 14 songs, including covers of Big Star, Ke$ha, Justin Bieber, and Cyndi Lauper.
